Juice Cleanse 101: Recipes

Here’s what I used for each juice during my 3-day-cleanse. Note that all of the ingredients I used were organic.

Day One: I started off each day with a litre of warm water with lemon to start off with a good ol’ flush. I the continued with the following juices which I sipped on alternately throughout the day.

Wake Me Up Citrus Go-Go:IMG_20140417_074858
2 green apples
2 grapefruits
2 oranges
1 lemon
2 inch wedge of ginger

Goodness Medley:
1 green apple
large handful of carrots
large handful of celery
1 medium sized cucumber
2 inch wedge of ginger

Avo-Spinach Smoothie:
1/2 a large avocado
1 ripe banana
2 handfuls of spinach
1 cup of coconut milk

Day Two: I started off the day the same way, with a litre of warm water with lemon. I only had one juice (my favourite combination) with a smoothie and drank mainly water throughout the day.

2 large beets
1 grapefruit
1 lemon
1 green apple
1 orange
2 inch thumb of ginger
an optional clove of garlic – does wonders for your body and if a single clove, it won’t spoil the taste

Avo-Spinach Smoothie
Same ingredients as above with a table spoon of almond butter.

Day Three: By the third day I felt awesome, full of energy and wondering about 5 day cleanses or more! This is definitely something I will do periodically, maybe for even longer! I have all intentions of experimenting with juices and seeing how my body best responds! There wasn’t a smoothie for day three, just 2 juices. Again, I started it out with a litre of warm water with lemon. I found that I could drink it all as I prepped the produce (washing, peeling and chopping) and juiced everything.

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, certain foods work on certain internal organs and I used this information to determine what ingredients I used for my juices. This is called Food Therapy.

I started out on this juice cleanse wanting to work on my liver which is the number one organ that detoxes the body. I also intended on working on my lungs and my digestive system as a whole.
I chose lemon, celery, spinach and beets to work on my liver, all of these are amazing for healing the liver. Almost all of the ingredients I used are known to work on the stomach, aiding my digestive system, with the banana, cucumber, spinach and beets healing my large intestines. A lot of these same ingredients help to heal other organs too, for example, banana, grapefruit, lemon, celery, spinach, garlic and ginger all contain properties that heal the lungs too. I found it encouraging that many of these fruits and vegetables work on the spleen and bladder too. I’ll take all the detoxification and healing that I can!

By incorporating these, and other fruits and vegetables into your diet can gently help to heal your insides.

Sending love and light to you and your awesome insides!
C. xx
