The Importance of Radical Responsibility

First, let's breathe.

Let’s take a moment to breathe. To place our hands on our heart as we create a moment for ourselves to get still and expand. Taking full belly inhales and longer exhales. Filling up the abdomen on the in-breath, letting go on the out-breath. Connecting to our hearts and where we are at right now. Loving and surrendering to all that is, because let’s face it, it’s a lot to be here and be present right now.

Keep breathing for as long as you need to, allowing your awareness to gently move around your body. See what you notice, no judgement.

Come back to these words when you’re ready.

radical responsibility

It's time to do your work.

The current times in our world call for us to be radical. There are no ifs, ands, or buts about it. Things have to change. Collectively we have created a world where we take from some so that others can have more and this can not continue. We are severely out of balance.

I believe what we’re witnessing in the world around us, is the beginning of the breakdown. I’m sure you’ve heard it before, we must break down in order to break through. If you look to nature, you'll see that there is always a period of breaking down or death, before there is the breakthrough or the rebirth.

As we are the microcosm of the greater macrocosm, we have to go through our own breakdown of the systems and constructs, of our beliefs and habit patterns. It’s uncomfortable, confronting and unbearable at times. We are wading in the composting debris of the old (as even more continues to surface) while simultaneously creating a new reality.

How do we create a new reality?

By doing our work. By surrendering to what is coming up for us to witness, heal, clear and integrate so that we are able to function from a place of awareness and expansion, clarity, truth and connection.

We have to get radical and we have to take responsibility. Both words seem to be repeated a lot recently so let’s look at the definitions (from Oxford Languages via Google).

rad·i·cal  /ˈradək(ə)l/

1. (especially of change or action) relating to or affecting the fundamental nature of something; far-reaching or thorough.

2. advocating or based on thorough or complete political or social change; representing or supporting an extreme or progressive section of a political party.

1. a person who advocates thorough or complete political or social reform; a member of a political party or part of a party pursuing such aims.

To be radical is to affect the fundamental nature of something. To create complete political or social change.

What will that take? For each of us in our microcosms, through healing and action in order to change the fundamental nature within, so that we can shift and transform the outer world in the macrocosm?

Let’s look at responsibility.

re·spon·si·bil·i·ty  /rəˌspänsəˈbilədē/

the state or fact of having a duty to deal with something or of having control over someone.

  • the state or fact of being accountable or to blame for something.
  • the opportunity or ability to act independently and make decisions without authorization.

To have responsibility - which a lot of us are claiming right now - is to have a duty to deal, to be accountable and act independently, making decisions without authorization.

To call upon and claim RADICAL RESPONSIBILITY is the duty to fundamentally change the nature of things, to show up and be accountable for the state of the world, and to act independently and make decisions that are outside of authorization. Authorization being the systems and constructs that are in place so that we don’t get radical and we don’t take it upon ourselves to do the work so that we change the world as we know it! To act independently creating complete political or social reform

So how do we do that? What does that look like?

The bad news is that I can not answer those questions for you, it’s something that you have to reflect upon and determine yourself. The good news is that this is your journey. The path of healing, growth and evolution is your path to take. It’s your responsibility and it’s your purpose

I will say this. Do your work. In whatever that looks like, however the Universe offers you opportunities to go deeper within.
